Each year I create an Earth Day poster for NASA, and this being the 50th Anniversary, I wanted to do something really special. For the first time, I've recorded a video on the inspiration and process behind the concept—from traditional media to digital composite. Animated Earth Day poster on the NASDAQ Time Square in New York City
My first approach was in watercolor, but it didn't quite capture the NASA aspect I'd hoped for. So, I went back to the digital drawing board and started compositing with real science data.
My main resource for the delta tree was taken from my all-time favorite “Earth as Art” image, the Lina Delta in Siberia. But, I also used a variety of other images from all over the world to add detail to this composite.
